Our History
In 1967, the Illinois Institute of Technology's main computer was housed in its own building, where the floors, walls and ceilings were shielded with lead, where the air was temperature, dust and humidity controlled and the staff wore white laboratory coats. This state-of-the-art computer was the genesis of Computer Helper. This state-of-the-art computer had far less capability than the computers for each ear that we now use to instantly process sound and deliver it to a person with hearing loss.
Based on the knowledge gained since 1967, and with the evolution of mainframes with their own buildings to the development of personal computers, Computer Helper was established in 1990. Over the past 35+ years, it has serviced major corporations, small businesses and brave individuals working on the bleeding-edge of technology.
Starting before the public introduction of the internet, with onsite and then the addition of remote support, it has witnessed a new world of possibilities.
